Opportunities From: Dedham Food Pantry

Work alongside other staff and volunteers to restock our shelves from incoming donations, Greater Boston Food Bank Deliveries, and Store donations so we are ready for shoppers. Cleaning and organizing tasks assigned as needed.

Must be capable of lifting up to 30lbs - usually less and the ability to be on your feet for multiple hours.

Children 16 and younger must be able to follow simple directions from supervisors. Children under 16 are encouraged to have a parent assist them on their first shift 

We often order extra fresh rpduce from a vendor in Hyde Park. This opportunity should only take about an hour and needs a small sized SUV or larger.

Drive to Katsiroubas Produce, park in a loading bay and call 857-491-9881 tell them you're picking up for Dedham Food Pantry and which numbered bay you're parked at. They will open the bay and provide you with anywhere from 3-20 boxes (depending on our order size) and a receipt. Return to Dedham Food Pantry and assist unloading to our produce tables.

You must be 16 or older for this volunteer shift.

Assist clients by pushing their shopping cart, reminding them of item limits, and helping them get the food they need.

Must be 16 or older to participate without adult present. Under 16 must be with parent. 

This is an outdoor job! Dress for the weather. 

You will be loading clients groceries into their cars after they shop.

Volunteer must own vehicle. Arrive between 9 and 10 am Drive around the right side of the building to a ramp with a door, knock on the door and say you're with Dedham Food Pantry. Eileen (or staff) will let you know what we are getting. Pack up your car and head back to the pantry to unload! 

Must be 16 or older to volunteer without an an adult. Under 16 must have adult accompaniment.

After a Saturday Shop our shelves are pretty bare. We use this shift to restock from our back stock so our Tuesday crew can hit the ground running for a strong start to the week!

Tasks include restocking shelves, breaking down boxes and bringing to the compactor, cleaning the floors, tables, and bins as well as bagging bulk items into smaller quantities to serve more people. Other tasks may arise.

Three times a month we get a total of 19,000 lbs of food delivered to the Pantry from the Greater Boston Food bank. These deliveries arrive before normal pantry hours and we need help unloading the pallets and putting the boxes and cases into our back stock areas where our day shift folks will unpack them further!
